Tulane and C-USA all-time leader in rushing and all-purpose yards. Owns 25 school records. Became second player in NCAA history to record 4,000 rushing and 2,000 receiving yards. Career totals include 6,505 all-purpose yards, which ranks him 11th on the NCAA Division I-A all-time chart. Has rushed for 4,364 yards on 909 attempts with 22 career 100-yard rushing games, all school and C-USA records, and averaged 4.8 yards per carry with 21 touchdowns. Rushing total is 34th all-time in Division I-A. During his 44-game career, caught 189 passes for 2,059 yards to rank fourth in passes caught and eighth in receiving yardage at Tulane. His 36 career touchdowns, 21 rushing and 15 receiving, are second in Green Wave history. First player in NCAA Division I-A history to rush for over 1,250 yards and catch more than 60 passes in the same season, which he accomplished in 2001. The first Tulane player to garner more than 2,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in his career.
2003: Ranked second in C-USA in rushing (101.7) and all-purpose yards per game (147.0) and eighth in catches per game. Recorded 6 100-yard rushing days in 2003, including five straight, concluding with 115 yards on 19 carries at Navy. Other 100-yard games came versus Memphis (159), Louisville (123), Texas (114) and Houston (115). Missed the final three games due to a broken hand and finished with 915 yards on 185 carries, a 4.95 average. Second on the team in receiving with 39 catches for 408 yards and scored nine TDs (5 rush, 4 receive). Gained 100 rushing and 116 receiving yards versus Northwestern St. on 9 catches and 3 TDs (game-winner in OT). Voted the Preseason C-USA Offensive Player of the Year by league coaches. Named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award.
2002: Became just the second player in school history to post
back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons after gaining 1,138 yards on a
school-record 288 carries as a junior. Led Tulane in receiving for the
second straight season with 52 catches for 545 yards. Caught five or
more passes in seven games while passing the 45-yard mark in receiving
eight times. Earned second team All-Conference USA honors. Totalled the
third-most rushing yards in school history. Tallied his 16th career
100-yard rushing game in the Hawaii Bowl with 116 yards on 30 carries
and a touchdown while also catching six passes for 80 yards. Gained 136
yards on 32 carries versus Southern Miss (11/23) to surpass the
1,000-yard mark for the second time. Scored on a five-yard run against
USM and caught five passes for 58 yards in the game to earn C-USA
Offensive Player of the Week honors. His 32 carries in that game are the
third-most in school history. Set the Green Wave career all-purpose mark
on a season-long 47-yard touchdown catch versus TCU (11/9). Broke the
school record for 100-yard games versus East Carolina (9/14) with 114
yards on 30 carries, and claimed sole possession of the C-USA 100-yard
game record versus USM. Also scored a pair of rushing TDs at ECU. Picked
up a season-high 147 rushing yards on 29 carries and had a 44-yard TD
catch and run versus Southern. Rushed for 80 or more yards in eight of
12 games on the season, including 90 (vs. Houston) and 93 (vs.
Cincinnati). Led Tulane in receiving in four games. Durable back whose
27 career TDs (16 rush/11 receive) are tied for fourth on the Tulane
all-time list. Compiled amazing totals considering that opponents keyed
on the junior all season and he played behind a new and young offensive
line.
2001:
First player in NCAA Division I-A history to rush for over 1,250
yards and catch more than 60 passes in the same season. Broke Tulane's
53-year old record for single-season rushing (1,421) and shattered
the school and Conference USA single-season all-purpose yardage
marks (2,259), finishing third in the nation in that category. First
player in school history to gain 100 yards rushing (131) and 100
yards receiving (130) in the same game (versus Navy, 11/10/01).
Led Tulane in receptions (65) and had a pair of 100-yard receiving
games to go with seven 100-yard rushing games. Posted back-to-back
200-yard games versus Southern (201) and Cincinnati (249), setting
the Tulane single-game record for yards in the latter game while
also breaking C-USA and Tulane records for all-purpose yards in
a game with 336 (249 rush, 87 receiving). Scored 15 touchdowns (8
rushing and 7 receiving) in 2001 to lead Tulane; that single-season
total is second in school history. Compiled six of the top eight
all-purpose yardage games in Tulane history, and averaged seven
yards every time he touched the ball. The first Tulane player to
garner more than 2,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in his
career. His 65 catches established a new school record for receptions
by a running back. Became the first TU player since 1949, and the
second all-time, to gain 1,000 yards rushing in a season. Career
total of 2,311 yards ranks fourth all-time in just 22 career games.
Also set the single season record for most rushing attempts (262).
Has 1,106 receiving yards in his career to rank 15th all-time at
Tulane while his 98 catches are 13th. Set a TU record for most receiving
yards by a running back with 168 yards and two TDs on nine catches
at Army. It was the 13th-highest yardage total in school history.
Scored three TDs at Army -- on 32 and 40 yard catches, and a two-yard
run. Gained a school record 249 yards on 28 carries at Cincinnati
to break David Abercrombie‚s 31-year-old single game rushing
mark (246). Averaged 8.9 yards per carry vs. Cincinnati to break
the record he had set a week earlier. Versus East Carolina, totalled
245 all-purpose yards with 72 yards on four kickoff returns, seven
catches for 66 yards and a TD, and 107 rushing yards. Gained 176
yards rushing on 22 carries vs. BYU to tie for the 10th-best rushing
day in TU history. In that game, broke a career-long 75-yard TD
run, tied for the 12th-longest rush in Wave history and the longest
at Tulane since 1993. Scored three TDs vs. BYU with scoring catches
of 10 and 15 yards among his five catches for 66 yards. A semifinalist
for the 2001 Doak Walker Award. Played baseball in the San Diego
Padres organization for the second summer.
2000:
Turned in one of the best rushing seasons in school history and
the best-ever by a freshman. Posted the fourth-best single-season
rushing total in Tulane history with 890 yards on 174 carries. It
was the highest rushing total at Tulane since 1970 and the top mark
ever by a freshman. Ranked second in Conference USA in rushing,
averaging 89 yards per game. Posted five 100-yard rushing days in
10 games played and narrowly missed a sixth with 99 yards vs. Navy
(11/11). Had three straight 100-yard games vs. East Carolina (9/16),
SMU (9/23) and Cincinnati (9/30). Slowed by a high ankle sprain
in October, missed nearly two games and played hurt through two
more. Caught 33 passes for 350 yards and a 74-yard TD (against Army,
10/21) to rank fourth on the squad in receiving. Also led Tulane
in all-purpose yards with 124 per game (fourth in C-USA). Coaches
selected him the team‚s offensive player of the week for his
efforts vs. Cincinnati (9/30) and Houston (11/4). Tallied a season-high
131 yards on 22 carries at East Carolina (9/16). Six receptions
for 101 yards vs. Army (10/21) marked the first 100-yard receiving
day by a Tulane running back since 1988.
HIGH
SCHOOL: The all-metro offensive MVP and a two-time
all-district selection playing for Coach Barry Amedee. Also selected
to the Louisiana Sportswriters‚ All-State team and the Louisiana
High School Coaches second team. Holds Belaire‚s records for
career rushing yards and single-season touchdowns (24). Amassed
1,638 yards rushing and 279 yards receiving as a senior. Also a
star baseball player, he was picked for the Louisiana Coaches All-State
team as well as being honored as a first team all-district and an
all-region selection. Owns the school record for stolen bases. A
member of the National Honor Society and a Mathematics Merit Award
Winner. Chose Tulane over LSU, Southern Mississippi, and SMU.

Mewelde Jaem Cadere Moore. His name is Swahili and translates to
"he who gets his wisdom, knowledge and strength from God."
Born July 24, 1982 in Hammond, La. The son of Sandra and Jerry Moore.
Has two brothers and three sisters. Drafted in the fourth round
of the 2000 Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres. Majoring in
business at Tulane.
