NEW ORLEANS, La. - During an academic year that saw the Tulane Green Wave earn Conference USA championships in swimming and diving, women's golf, men's and women's tennis and baseball, Tulane student-athletes also excelled in the classroom as 136 were named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and 13 received the prestigious Commissioner's Academic Medal, C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced on Wednesday.

In order to be eligible for the Commissioner's Academic Medal, a student-athlete must record a grade point average of at least 3.75 for the academic year while student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Football led the way as three players, Chris Dawson, Joe Traina and Matt Traina were recognized as Commissioner's Academic Medal recipients.

Four teams had two representatives each, including Wes Hitchcock and Jeff Osborn of the men's golf team, swimmers Tiffany Brown and Amanda Williams, men's tennis players William Heim and Jonah Kane-West and women's track and field athletes Brianne Darragh and Helmi Leppanen. Jenny Kuehn and Joseph Guy were the lone representatives from the women's tennis and men's track teams.

Women's soccer placed 21 of its 26 players (80.7 percent) on the Commissioner's Honor Roll while men's golf had eight of 12 student-athletes (66.7 percent) honored by the league.

Overall, nearly 43 percent (136) of Tulane's 320 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Conference-wide, a total of 1,822 student-athletes were named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
